This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Heckmann Corporation (NYSE: HEK) high of $7.04. Moving higher following a positive mention on Seeking Alpha, about how Heckmann could benefit from new federal frac water transportation regulation. Heckmann is a pure-play frac water transportation company. Shares moved 4.5 percent to the new high Monday.

  • Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPPI) high of $15.22. After falling to the $13 level on December 9th following reports that there was a generic FUSILEV on the market, Spectrum reaffirmed patent protection on the drug through 2019. Shares are now just getting back to levels seen ahead of the drop

  • Visa, Inc. (NYSE: V) high of $99.37. Visa moving higher on reports that holiday spending will be up about 4 percent for 2011, while research firm comScore says sales are already up 15 percent for the period. Late last Friday, Visa also disclosed that CFO Byron H. Pollitt, Jr., entered a rule 10b5-1 trading plan for up to 77,484 shares of Visa common stock in the open market. The plan will expire in February 2013.
52-Week Low:
  • Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) low of $5.01. BofA has been flirting with the $5 price level today, generally hanging out at about $5.01. Notably, CEO Brian Moynihan is speaking at a forum in North Carolina. He is taking a rather bearish stance on 2012, saying it will be another year of "economic grinding."

  • Eldorado Gold Corp. (NYSE: EGO) low of $13.00. Eldorado Gold getting hit, down after announcing it entered into a definitive agreement with European Goldfields Limited pursuant to which Eldorado has agreed to acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of European Goldfields by way of a plan of arrangement under the Yukon Business Corporations Act.

    Under the Arrangement, shareholders of European Goldfields will receive 0.85 Eldorado shares and C$0.0001 in cash per European Goldfields share. Each outstanding option of European Goldfields shall be exchanged for options of Eldorado that will entitle the holder to receive, upon the exercise thereof, Eldorado shares based upon the Exchange Ratio and otherwise on the same terms and conditions as in the original European Goldfields option. The total transaction value is approximately C$2.5 billion.

  • BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: BPAX) low of $0.395. BioSante is now down over 80 percent since reporting that LibiGel (testosterone gel) did not meet the co-primary or secondary endpoints in two Phase III trials.

  • Gafisa S.A. (NYSE: GFA) low of $4.85. The Brazilian luxury residence developer taking a hit as economists keep revising expected GDP in Brazil lower. From expected growth of 3.16 percent four-weeks ago, that was revised to 2.97 percent last week, and 2.92 percent this week. Gafisa moved over 12.5 percent to the new mark on Monday.
