Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 11/03: (MDVN) (KFT) (EL) High; (JEF) (DNDN) (CECO) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Medivation, Inc. (Nasdaq: MDVN) high of $40.15. Medivation is just making a slight 142 percent jump Thursday, after it, and partner Astellas Pharma, said the Independent Data Monitoring Committee informed them of positive results from a planned interim analysis of the Phase 3 AFFIRM trial of MDV3100 in men with advanced prostate cancer. MDV3100 successfully met the study's pre-specified interim efficacy stopping criteria, demonstrating a clinically meaningful and statistically significant (p < 0.0001) improvement in overall survival compared to placebo.

  • Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE: KFT) high of $3630. Kraft moving on quarterly results Thursday. The Company reported earnings of 58 cents per share and revenue of $13.2 billion, beating views calling for EPS of 55 cents and revs of $12.8 billion. Looking ahead, Kraft raised its fiscal 2011 earnings outlook from $2.25 to at least $2.77. The Street was looking for $2.27.

  • Estee Lauder Cos., Inc. (NYSE: EL) high of $120.73. Estee Lauder reported third-quarter earnings of $1.41 per share on revenue of $2.48 billion, beating views calling for EPS of $1.18 and revs of $2.41 billion. The company boosted its fiscal 2011 earnings outlook from $4.00 to $4.20 to a range of $4.25 to $4.45, and the consensus of $4.28. Finally, Estee Lauder boosted its annual dividend 40 percent, and declared a two-for-one stock split.

  • Fusion-io, Inc. (NYSE: FIO) high of $37.25. Fusion-io swung into first-quarter profit, with a nearly two-fold increase in revs. Further, Fusion-io guided to slightly higher second-quarter revenue.
52-Week Low:
  • Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF) low of $9.79. Jefferies plummeted earlier as investors got spooked on the potential sovereign debt exposure it might be facing. Jefferies since refuted arguments here and here.

  • Dendreon Corp. (Nasdaq: DNDN) low of $6.52. Dendreon lower after reporting preliminary third-quarter revenue of $135 million, versus the $144.14 million expected. Further, Dendreon expects negative adjusted EBITDA in the range of ($0.5 million) to ($0.7 million), compared to adjusted EBITDA of $0.6 million in the year-ago period.

  • Career Education Corp. (Nasdaq: CECO) low of $6.92. Career Education is continuing lower Thursday, following an earnings miss earlier in the week. The stock was downgraded by William Blair and Wunderlich Thursday morning.

  • WebMD Health Corp. (Nasdaq: WBMD) low of $25.56. WebMD lower today after reporting adjusted earnings of 20 cents per share, which beat views by about 3 cents. Revenue for the quarter came in at $135.1 million versus the consensus estimate of $135.94 million. Late Wednesday, WebMD adopted a poison pill provision, and was downgraded by Stifel Nicolaus earlier in the session.
