Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 09/07: (CL) (VRUS) (DG) High; (VDSI) (DG) (URBN) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Colgate-Palmolive Co. (NYSE: CL) high of $91.47. Colgate-Palmolive is just one of many stocks that have been trading at or near 52-week highs over the past few months. Other notable's include Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), McDonald's (NYSE: MCD), and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ).

  • Pharmasset, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRUS) high of $73.41. Pharmasset is continuing higher today after reporting encouraging results from it's PROTON Phase 2b yesterday. After closing 9.9 percent better, Pharmasset is tacking on an additional 4 percent today.

  • Dollar General Corporation (NYSE: DG) high of $37.03. Like McDonald's mentioned above, Dollar General is seeing a little benefit as consumers look to get more value for their money as the economy continues to produce no new jobs but more stimulus might be injected into the economy.
52-Week Low:
  • VASCO Data Security International Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) low of $5.79. VASCO is off nearly 14 percent as Wunderlich Securities downgraded the stock from Buy to Hold. VASCO also filed an 8-K with the U.S. SEC with more color from the security incident at DigiNotar B.V.

  • Urban Outfitters Inc. (Nasdaq: URBN) low of $23.50. Urban Outfitters is hitting a new 52-week low following the filing of its 10-Q today, giving investors a better look at financials. Notably, Urban Outfitters reported first-half 2011 comps fell 3.3 percent.

  • Trina Solar Ltd. (NYSE: TSL) low of $11.98. Solar companies have been weak as of late, following the bankruptcy filing of Solyndra.
