Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 08/10: (AUY) (HK) High; (DIS) (ANX) (MOTR) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Yamana Gold, Inc. (NYSE: AUY) high of $15.04. Yamana is ripping higher today as gold gets above $1800 per ounce. Share moved over 6 percent to a new high.

  • Petrohawk Energy Corporation (NYSE: HK) high of $38.40. Petrohawk is tracing right along with crude prices, which have been trending upward as EIA reported a surprise drop of 5.23 million barrels at the end of last week.
52-Week Low:
  • Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) low of $30.20. Disney fell nearly 13 percent on the session to its new low Wednesday, following its second-quarter earnings results. Disney reported earnings of 67 cent per share on revenue of $10.675 billion, mixed to Street views calling for earnings of 73 cents per share and revs of $10.45 billion.

  • Adventrx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE: ANX) low of $0.96. Adventrx is getting pummeled today, following receipt of a complete response letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the Company's New Drug Application (NDA) for Exelbine (vinorelbine injectable emulsion) for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. The FDA determined that it could not approve the Exelbine NDA in its present form.

  • Motricity, Inc. (Nasdaq: MOTR) low of $2.05. Motricity is getting rocked following earnings. Motricity reported second-quarter earnings of 4 cents per share on revenue of $34.6 million, both missing views. Looking ahead, Motricity sees third-quarter revs of $31.5 to $32.5 million, well below the $45.5 million expected by the Street. Shares moved 55 percent lower on the session.

  • Computer Sciences Corp (NYSE: CSC) low of $26.31. Computer Sciences is lower today amid strong second-quarter results. Earnings in the quarter were 89 cents on revenue of $4.03 billion, beating expectations calling for earnings of 69 cents per share on revenue of $3.99 billion. Computer Sciences moved 17 percent to its new low today.
