Notable 52-Week High's and Low's of the Day 06/24: HAS, BVF, ALOY High; BP, MS, JCP, NOK Low

This report is a mid-day check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Hasbro Inc. (NYSE: HAS) high of $43.71. Though M&A action for the company was hushed earlier this morning, investors may be taking the rumor as a positive sign for the company.

  • Biovail Corporation (NYSE: BVF) high of $19.13. Continuing upward on news earlier in the week that the company will merge will Valent Pharma (NYSE: VRX).

  • Alloy Inc. (Nasdaq: ALOY) high of $9.60. Tight range today, as ZelnickMedia and Alloy announced today that an investor group led by ZelnickMedia has agreed to acquire Alloy for $9.80 per share in cash.
52-Week Low:
  • BP plc (NYSE: BP) low of $28.84. Shares finally broke through the psychological $29.00 support level that BP has been flirting with for the last week or so. News today includes BP scrambling to cover a cap that was knocked off by an underwater robot yesterday. Additionally, Sky News reports that BP mya be exploring the sale of Argentinian assets.

  • Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) low of $24.22. Been trading lower lately amid a flurry of reduced ratings and uncertainty surrounding the impact of fiduciary standard on retail brokers.

  • J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) low of $23.07. Down as housing may be entering a double dip. Consumers will tighten belt straps if that's the case.

  • Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) low of $8.31. Nokia still feeling a little pressure today from Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), and Motorola (NYSE: MOT) released their Droid X phone for Verizon (NYSE: VZ) yesterday.
