Notable 52-Week High's and Low's of the Day 06/16: SMTS, NBIX, SBUX, SUN High; NOK, GXDX, MYGN, UTA Low

This report is a mid-day check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today. It is a brief list, and not meant to be a complete listing. No specific ratio is set.

52-Week High:
  • Somanetics Corp. (Nasdaq: SMTS) high of $24.86. Covidien plc (NYSE: COV) and Somanetics signed a definitive merger agreement under which Covidien will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Somanetics Corporation for $25.00 per share in cash, for a total of $250 million, net of cash acquired.

  • Neurocrine Biosciences Inc. (Nasdaq: NBIX) high of $5.56. Abbott (NYSE: ABT) and Neurocrine entered into a collaboration agreement to develop and commercialize elagolix for the treatment of endometriosis-related pain. Click here for the full report.

  • Starbucks Corp. (Nasdaq: SBUX) high of $28.17. Investors may be buying into Starbucks begining to offer free Wi-Fi, which will certainly attract more customers to the store [potentially aiming for Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPad market?].

  • Sunoco, Inc. (NYSE: SUN) high of $34.97. Couple good news items out of Sunoco today. First, their Board announced that its Board of Directors has authorized a plan to separate SunCoke Energy from the remainder of Sunoco as part of a strategy designed to unlock shareholder value. Also, the Company also announced that it anticipates its Refining segment to report a profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2010.


52-Week Low:
  • Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) low of $8.75. The company commented today on factors impacting its business and updated its second quarter and full year 2010 outlook for Devices & Services. Click here to see full details.

  • Genoptix, Inc. (Nasdaq: GXDX) low of $17.41. lowers its FY10 EPS guidance from $1.80-$1.85 to $1.20, sales move from $235-$240 million to $210 million. The Street is currently looking for FY10 EPS and sales of $1.77 and $228.82 million, respectively. Click here to see the full report.

  • Myriad Genetics Inc. (Nasdaq: MYGN) low of $17.01. Gleacher & Co. initiated coverage on the company with a Sell rating and price target of $15. Click here for more color. Prior to the rating change, MYGN was hovering around $18 after a drop on May 4th following their earnings report.

  • Universal Travel Group (NYSE: UTA) low of $7.03. Shares are down today as the company announced a 2,857,143 common offering at $7.00 per share.
