Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 05/31: (DAL) (GET) (FLO) High; (NOK) (JOY) (CHTP) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) high of $12.18. Delta making a 3.5 percent move higher on the session, looking to make it six wins over the last eight sessions. Delta and other airlines have been gaining with the price of crude continuing to tumble, making for cheaper jet fuel costs.

  • Gaylord Entertainment Company (NYSE: GET) high of $38.76. Gaylord said it will sell its Gaylord brand and hotel management company to Marriott (NYSE: MAR) for $210 million. Given shareholder approval, Gaylord will continue to own the existing Gaylord hotels and Marriott will assume management of these properties under long-term agreements.

  • Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE: FLO) high of $22.65. Flowers Foods said it would acquire Lepage Bakeries -- based in Auburn, ME -- for $370 million in cash and stock. Investors are cheering the move, sending Flowers Foods 8.7 percent higher on the session Thursday.
52-Week Low:
  • Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) low of $2.63. Nokia is continuing lower with fewer and fewer positive signs for the mobile communications giant. Yesterday, MKM Partners downgraded shares to Sell, starting another downward trend for the stock.

  • Joy Global, Inc. (NYSE: JOY) low of $53.25. Joy Global beat first-quarter views, but cut its fiscal 2012 EPS outlook from $7.40 to $7.80 down to a range of $7.15 to $7.45. The Street was modeling $7.60.

  • Chelsea Therapeutics International, Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHTP) low of $1.25. Chelsea Therapeutics said a preliminary analysis of its dose-ranging exploratory Phase II trial of CH-4051, a non-metabolized antifolate, in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who experience an inadequate response to methotrexate (MTX) treatment indicates that CH-4051 did not demonstrate superior efficacy to methotrexate in the dose range evaluated.
