Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 05/23: (PETM) (TOL) (TRIP) High; (DELL) (HPQ) (TSL) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • PetSmart, Inc. (Nasdaq: PETM) high of $62.36. PetSmart reports first-quarter EPS of 85 cents on revs of $1.63 billion, compared with expectations calling for EPS of 73 cents and revs of $1.60 billion.

    Looking at fiscal 2012, PetSmart boosted its EPS outlook from a range of $3.02 to $3.16 up to $3.19 to $3.31. The consensus was expecting EPS of $3.14. Second-quarter EPS expected to be 61 cents to 65 cents, to the lighter end of Street views.

  • Toll Brothers, Inc. (NYSE: TOL) high of $28.08. Toll Bros. moved to a new high following second-quarter number which produced EPS of 10 cents on revs of $373.7 million, which was mixed to views calling for EPS of 4 cents and revs of $382 million.

    Signed contracts rose 47 percent to $1,290 units and 51 percent to $754.7 million.

    Shares were up nearly 4 percent early to the new mark.

  • TripAdvisor Inc. (Nasdaq: TRIP) high of $44.79. TripAdvisor moving higher, possibly on positive comments for peer Expedia (Nasdaq: EXPE) issued by Piper Jaffray earlier.
52-Week Low:
  • Dell Inc. (Nasdaq: DELL) low of $12.31. Dell getting slammed over 18 percent on the session following its quarterly numbers. The firm reported first-quarter EPS of 43 cents on revs of $14.42 billion, both down from the prior year and both missing Street views.

  • Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ) low of $20.57. Hewlett-Packard hitting a new annual low ahead of its second-quarter results, as Dell has sounded the alarm in the tech sector today. Investors are being extra cautious heading into H-P's results.

  • Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL) low of $5.01. Trina Solar moving off of intraday lows early in the session amid reporting first-quarter loss of 42 cents per share and revs of $349.9 million, compared with expectations calling for a loss of 29 cents per share and revenue of $396 million. Shipments came in below views, though expectations for 500- to 520-MW in the second-quarter would be a 36.8 percent improvement in the best-case scenario.
