Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 05/19: (PETM) (TMO) (DLTR) High; (NEI) (HEV) (YONG) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • PetSmart, Inc. (Nasdaq: PETM) high of $45.98. PetSmart making a nice move today following earnings, which it reported after the market yesterday. EPS was $0.61 on revs of $1.49 billion, versus consensus EPS of $0.55 and revs of $1.48 billion. Looking ahead, PetSmart sees FY11 EPS of $2.32 - $2.42, versus $2.36 consensus. The Company also sees Q211 EPS of $0.47 - $0.51, compared with the $0.49 consensus. Shares moved over 8 percent to the high today.

  • Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. (NYSE: TMO) high of $65.82. Thermo moving higher today as it reports entering an agreement to acquire Phadia from European private equity firm Cinven, for €2.47 billion (or approximately $3.5 billion) in cash. Investors are cheering the move today, sending Thermo shares nearly 5 percent higher.

  • Dollar Tree, Inc. (Nasdaq: DLTR) high of $64.47. Dollar Tree is an earnings mover today, along with solid guidance. EPS in the first-quarter was $0.82 on revs of $1.55 billion, beating consensus views calling for EPS of $0.75 and revs of $1.51 billion. Comps increased 7.1 percent. Dollar Tree sees Q211 EPS of $0.68 - $0.75 and revs of $1.51 - $1.55 billion, versus consensus EPS of $0.73 and revs of $1.53. The company also increased its FY11 revs outlook from $3.55 - $3.76 to $3.69 - $3.85, versus $3.76 consensus. Dollar Tree also sees FY11 revs of $6.50 - $6.63 billion, versus $6.54 billion consensus.
52-Week Low:
  • Network Engines, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEI) low of $1.15. Network Engines was notified by EMC that, as part of a strategic initiative, the integration of EMC's Avamar product line will be dual sourced beginning in the quarter ending September 30, 2011. The company notes that this announcement will not impact its Q311 results and is reaffirming its previous guidance. The news will weigh on its Q411 results, and NEI believes that its will reduce revenues by $5 - $7 million and net income by $500,000 - $700,000.

  • Ener1 Inc (Nasdaq: HEV) low of $1.32. Ener1 still continuing lower from a sharp sell off following earnings on May 10th, though action is more pronounced below the $1.40 price level. Pacific Crest initiated the stock with a Sector Perform today.

  • Yongye International, Inc. (Nasdaq: YONG) low of $3.01. Yongye is still seeing investors exit from yesterday, as Absaroka Capital initiated coverage on the stock with a Sell rating, calling Yongye a "fraud." Volume is about 3x average at mid-day. Shares closed 5.5 percent lower yesterday. Also notable is that the stock made a spike to the $3.01 mark, a 30.5 percent drop, on a 275K block trade at 11:28am. Shares quickly rebounded after that.

  • Country Style Cooking Restaurant Chain (NYSE: CCSC) low of $11.80. Country Style Cooking is making a severe move following its first quarter earnings report. The company has EPS of $0.08 on revs of $34 million, missing consensus views calling for EPS of $0.11 and revs of $34.9 million. Comps increased 4.4 percent. The stock dropped nearly 30 percent to the new 52-week low today.
