Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 05/16: (TISA) (JCP) (SOLR) High; (RMBS) (FXCM) (SIHI) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Top Image Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: TISA) high of $2.88. Top Image Systems is showing some strength today after reporting that it has launched "mobile banking solutions that allows financial institutions to better respond to customer demand for mobile based capabilities using smart phones." Shares are nearly 41 percent higher on the day.

  • J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) high of $41.00. J.C. Penney produced solid first-quarter results, with EPS of $0.33 (adjusted) and revs of $3.943 billion. The numbers were mixed to the consensus, but strong guidance helped propel J. C. Penney to a new 52-week high today.

  • GT Solar International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SOLR) high of $12.13. GT Solar reports that it has signed new contracts for its DSS multicrystalline growth furnaces from both new and existing customers totaling $84.3 million. Shares moved over 6.7 percent higher on the news today.

  • China Techfaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited (Nasdaq: CNTF) high of $6.35. Techfaith reports that it will establish a joint venture company with Beijing E-town International Investment and Development Co Ltd ("BEIID"), a PRC stated owned investment and financing company headquarter in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area for a period of 30 years. This new joint venture arrangement replaces the previously announced contract between TechFaith and BEIID, signed in September 2010, under which BEIID was given an option to convert its interest in the convertible bonds into TechFaith ordinary shares over the next 5 years at the price of $5.00 per ADS.
52-Week Low:
  • Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq: RMBS) low of $14.51. After triggering a curcuit breaker multiple times last Friday following news that "Hynix appeal of Rambus case affirmed-in-part, vacated-in-part. Court raises question on whether Rambus deserved penalty. Rambus wins a rehearing on its Micron (NYSE: MU) case. Also, an appeals court has agreed that Rambus spoliated documents." Finally on Friday, Rambus received "decisions from Court of Appeals for federal circuit, saying Hynix case final judgment vacated and case remanded." Shares down percent on the day.

  • FXCM (NYSE: FXCM) low of $10.25. FXCM is an earnings mover today, with EPS of $0.18 on rvs of $94.65 million, mixed to consensus EPS of $0.20 and revs of $78.24 million. Shares moved over 14.3 percent lower to the new low.

  • SinoHub, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIHI) low of $1.31. SinoHub reported first-quarter earnings of $0.12 per share on revs of $37.97 million, versus consensus EPS of $0.12 and revs of $47.35 million. Shares dropped over 22 percent to the low today.
