- AOL, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) high of $27.47. AOL and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) hashed a deal where AOL would sell about 800 patents to Microsoft for $1.056 billion. The sale was more than the Street was modeling for, meaning AOL effectively added over $7 per share in value.
Shares moved over 49 percent on the news today.
- Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) high of $639.19. Apple moving higher following a bullish call by a Topeka Capital analyst. The analyst liked what was happening with suppliers following a recent trip to China and Taiwan. Apple moved 0.9 percent to the new mark.
- Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) high of $60.75. Las Vegas Sands shares moving higher after getting above the $60 resistance level. The last time Sands traded this high was June 2008.
- priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN) high of $$766.89. Already performing well in 2012, pricieline is getting another boost from Pacfic Crest Monday, after the firm started coverage on the shares at Outperform, with an $885 price target.
- Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM) low of $13.90. Earlier, Polycom got downgraded at RBC Capital from Outperform to Sector Perform, its price target slashed from $26 to $19. Polycom shares are off 4.5 percent on the session.
- Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: ANR) low of $13.85. Alpha Natural falling on EIA data showing coal demand continues to wane as nat gas prices fall and last winter was an exceptionally mild one. Alpha Natural was off as much as 2.5 percent on the session.
- Enerplus Corp. (NYSE: ERF) low of $19.70. Enerplus Corp. and other oil and gas drillers seeing pressure as crude prices continue to slip. Recent economic reports showing a slowdown to jobs growth are adding to concerns that demand for crude might ebb slightly.
