Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 03/02: (CBS) (TGC) (XLNX) High; (HCBK) (CEDC) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS) high of $24.11. A recent ruling has the NFL no longer being able to use $4 billion in rights fees should it lockout its players, and may be obligated to pay some back to broadcasters.

  • Tengasco Inc. (NYSE: TGC) high of $1.09. Higher today as investors are buying into smaller oil & gas exploration companies on the potential further increase in crude prices may be imminent upon Middle East and North Africa tension increases. Crude topped out near $140 per barrel in 2008, and counld potentially hit that mark again if supplies from the Middle East are trimmed.

  • Xilinx Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) high of $34.90. Received an upgrade from J.P. Morgan from Neutral to Overweight today, with a price target increase 36% from $29.50 to $40.

  • Royale Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: ROYL) high of $7.74. Another speculatative play on an increase in crude prices. ROYL shares are up over 250% over the last six trading days.
52-Week Low:
  • Hudson City Bancorp, Inc. (Nasdaq: HCBK) low of $9.83. Investors got their first peek at Hudson City's 10-K. HCBK noted that "The recent adoption of regulatory reform legislation has created uncertainty and may have a material effect on our operations and capital requirements."

  • Central European Distribution Corp. (Nasdaq: CEDC) low of $13.53. Nomura Securities lowered from Buy to Neutral, cutting their price target from $28 to $15. The company is continuing lower following fourth quarter 2010 results yesterday.

  • Wonder Auto Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: WATG) low of $6.00. Lower today following a restatement of FY08 and FY09 financial statements. WATG expected an increase in sales and income for the FY08 and FY09. Shares dropped as much as 9.9% on the news today.
