52-Week High:
- VAALCO Energy (NYSE: EGY) high of $8.93. After the market closed Tuesday, VAALCO said it recently received written confirmation from the Angolan national oil company, Sonangol, that the government of Angola has granted a time extension of the production sharing agreement for Block 5 through the end of 2012. Shares moved over 24 percent to the new mark Wednesday.
- Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) high of $29.05. Comcast moving higher after reporting fourth-quarter results today. Earnings came in at 47 cents per share on revs of $15.04 billion, both beating consensus views. Comcast moved 6.6 percent north to the new mark.
- Taiwan Semiconductor (NYSE: TSM) high of $14.46. Taiwan Semi has just been hovering in between the $13.75 to $14.50 mark over the last month. Today, Taiwan Semi appeared to break above a slight downtrend, though investors will have to wait to see if it sticks. Volume on the move is just about in-line with expectations.
- Wellcare Health Plans (NYSE: WCG) high of $71.54. Wellcare making a strong move today following solid quarterly results. Earlier, the company reported fourth-quarter earnings of $2.15 on revs of $1.58 billion, versus views calling for $1.18 in earnings and $1.59 billion in revs.
Looking ahead, Wellcare expects fiscal 2012 EPS in the range of $4.40 to $4.60 per share, topping expectations of $4.21. Shares moved 13.6 percent higher today.
- Powerwave Technologies (Nasdaq: PWAV) low of $1.19. After the market closed yesterday, Powerwave reported a fourth-quarter loss of $1.34 per share and revs of $60.1 million. The Street was expecting a loss of 61 cents and revs of $90.94 million. Shares were slammed 24 percent Wednesday.
- Savient Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: SVNT) low of $1.92. Could be making an overall move lower, though an amended 13G filed yesterday showed Samana Capital raised its stake to 5.83 million shares, or about 8.1 percent of total outstanding.
