Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 01/18: (AAPL) (HD) (LOW) High; (GEN) (CHK) (RRD) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) high of $428.46. Apple moving to new highs Wednesday, trading along with broader markets as confidence returns to Europe on IMF bailout hopes as well as stronger earnings from the financials. Reports today also have Apple's iPhone 4S making a significant ding in Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android-equipped mobile devices.

  • Lowe's Companies Inc. (NYSE: LOW) high of $27.49. Lowe's is moving higher Wednesday, following data from the NAHB which showed it's Housing Market Index improved to 25 in January, from 21 prior and the consensus of 21. That's the fourth-straight increase and the best result since June 2007.

  • The Home Depot, Inc. (NYSE: HD) high of $44.92. Home Depot moved 2.3 percent on the session Wednesday following the NAHB numbers.

  • Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN) high of $23.10. Another homebuilder on the move today following data, Lennar was up as much as 4.8 percent on the session. This is the best level that Lennar has been at since September 2007, indicating a 3.5 year high.
52-Week Low:
  • GenOn Energy, Inc. (NYSE: GEN) low of $2.12. GenOn is lower after Morgan Stanley started shares with an Underweight rating ahead of the bell Wednesday. GenOn is also leading peers, down about 10.2 percent on the session.

  • Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE: CHK) low of $20.61. Chesapeake has been suffering from lower natural gas prices, but gained some ground today as the commodity rebounded on colder weather estimates sweeping across the U.S. Shares were up as much as 4.1 percent on the session.

  • R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NYSE: RRD) low of $11.83. R.R. Donnelley is continuing lower from Tuesday, following the company's outlook for fiscal 2011 yesterday. Shares are down about 2.5 percent on the session, after dropping 15.8 percent on Tuesday.
