Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 01/13: MRO, ARMH, F, PCX High; LEDS, CNST Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO) high of $44.90. Shares moving over 10.8% to a new 52-week high today as the company announced that they were moving forward with their plan to spin off it's downstream business, creating two independent energy companies.

  • ARM Holdings plc (Nasdaq: ARMH) high of $27.55. ARM is seeing some strong buying above the the $25.50 price level today, and made a more rapid ascention above the $27.75 price level. No specific company news or analyst call was put out today, but the company is a target of takeover speculation.

  • Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) high of $18.97. Could be seeing positive buying following Jim Cramer taking his price targets all the way up to $36 per share following a visit to a Deaborn, MI, plant yesterday. Shares moved 1.3% higher today to the new high.

  • Patriot Coal Corporation (NYSE: PCX) high of $27.35. More buying strength for coal miners today as Australia, one of the world's largest coal producers, may have seen the worst of the torrential rains, but flooding cleanup still remains. Coal importers will be turning to U.S. companies to fulfill their need. Additionally, International Coal Group (NYSE: ICO) is also hitting a new 52-week high of $10.02 today.
52-Week Low:
  • SemiLEDs Corporation (Nasdaq: LEDS) low of $18.81. Dropping over 34% to a new low today, as investors are selling after disappointing Q111 and Q211 guidance. Click here for more color.

  • Constar International Inc. (Nasdaq: CNST) low of $0.56. Another continuation lower today, following a 16.5% drop yesterday, as a unit of the company, BFF, Inc., filed for bankruptcy protection. Shares are now down 71.5% in January.
