Notable 52-Week High's and Low's of the Day 06/29: EVVV, IDT, WAIN High; XOM, MS, RIMM, AKS Low

This report is a mid-day check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:

  • ev3 Inc. (Nasdaq: EVVV) high of $22.43. Higher today as an investor in the common shares filed a lawsuit alleging possible breaches of fiduciary duty by the board of directors of ev3 Inc. in connection with the takeover offer for ev3 by Covidien (NYSE: COV). The lawsuit seeks to block Covidien's ev3 deal.

  • IDT Corporation (NYSE: IDT) high of $11.97. Continuing higher today, as investors draw confidence from CEO Howard Jonas' appearance on CNBC early yesterday. Shares closed 16.1% higher yesterday, as Jonas highlighted the company's oil shale operations.

  • Wainwright Bank & Trust Co. (Nasdaq: WAIN) high of $18.90. Eastern Bank to pay $19/share for Wainwright. Click here to see the full report.


52-Week Low:

  • Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) low of $57.09. Many in the energy sector are preparing their gulf operations for tropical storm Alex and continued ramifications from BP's massive Gulf oil spill.

  • Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) low of $23.35. The combination of looming financial reform and indications of global economic slowdown are affecting all financials today. Morgan Stanley recently had a 52-week low of $24.22 on June 24, 2010.

  • Research In Motion Ltd. (Nasdaq: RIMM) low of $50.04. Shares are down on reports Verizon (NYSE: VZ) will start to offer the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone in January 2011.

  • AK Steel Holding (NYSE: AKS) low of $12.13. UBS lowered their price target on the shares from $18 to $14 today, noting exposure to higher iron ore contracts price is an overhang. UBS maintains their Neutral rating on the shares.
