Notable 50-Day SMA Crossers 06/24: (MSFT) (FHN) (DDD) Above; (RAD) (THC) (ARNA) Below

Crossing and above:
  • Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) up 2.4 percent. Microsoft up today ahead of a conference call set for 3:30pm EDT covering a partnership with Oracle. The company also announced several education initiatives with its Bing search engine and Microsoft operating system.

  • First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE: FHN) up 0.7 percent. First Horizon is just coming off of a 52-week high hit last month, flirting with a 50-day SMA that has been flattening recently.

  • 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD) down 1.5 percent. 3D Systems has been on quite a slide since running up to its annual high of $51.94 last month. The stock has closed lower over the past four sessions, five counting a negative close today. Last week, Stratasys (Nasdaq: SSYS) entered an agreement to acquire MakerBot, which should pressure 3D Systems in the consumer segment.
Crossing and below:
  • Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) down 5.4 percent. Rite Aid continuing lower after issuing quarterly results and light guidance last week. Retail pharma traders will have their eyes on Walgreen (NYSE: WAG), which will report its quarterly results early Tuesday.

  • Tenet Healthcare Corp. (NYSE: THC) up 5.1 percent. Tenet popping after announcing plans to acquire Vanguard Health (NYSE: VHS) for $21 per share. Still, Tenet's recent slide has left it below the key moving average amid today's upside.

  • Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (Nasdaq: ARNA) up 1.3 percent. Arena on watch as it will present data from the Belviq Phase 3 trial at American Diabetes Association's 73rd Scientific Sessions, Chicago, IL. The conference runs from June 21st through 25th. Shares have been rather flat lately as traders wait for any catalysts to signal more upside potential.
