Advanced Analogic Tech. (Nasdaq: AATI) 32.6% HIGHER; Skyworks revises offer for Advanced Analogic Tech. from $6.13/share (comprised of $3.68 per share in cash and .08725 of a share of Skyworks common stock for each outstanding share of Advanced Analogic Technologies common stock) to $5.80 per share in cash. Companies will dismiss claims.
Zoltek (Nasdaq: ZOLT) 24% HIGHER; in its 10-K filing, reported a Q4 loss of 10c/share on sales of $43.1 million. The Street was looking for a loss of just 2c/share on sales of $44.5 million. The CEO said the company is "seeing significant expansion in our sector of the wind energy market..."
Stoneridge, Inc. (NYSE: SRI) 18.6% HIGHER; executed an agreement with its joint venture partners to acquire an additional 24% ownership of PST Eletronica S.A., a Brazil-based electronic system provider focused on security, infotainment and accessories primarily for the automotive and motorcycle markets. At the conclusion of the transaction, Stoneridge's ownership interest in PST will increase from 50% to 74%. Stoneridge will pay approximately $29.7 million in cash and issue approximately 1.94 million shares in exchange for the additional 24% equity ownership in PST.
Phoenix New Media (NYSE: FENG) 18% HIGHER; stock bouncing over resistance at $5.50 today. Volume is very heavy today.
Patriot Coal (NYSE: PCX) 14.9% HIGHER; the commodities complex is rallying today as the global coordinated action on dollar swaps is essentially bearish for the dollar, in turn bullish for commodities. Coal stocks, specifically, are surging today (the Market Vectors Coal ETF (NYSE: KOL) are up a very sharp 8 percent today) amid a Reuters report which suggests China may hike its power tariffs and cap spot coal prices.
ArcelorMittal (NYSE: MT) 14.1% HIGHER; steel and iron suppliers are also moving today with the broader metals group.
James River Coal (Nasdaq: JRCC) 12.5% HIGHER; see Patriot.
Leap Wireless (NASDAQ: LEAP) 12.4% HIGHER; RBC Capital upgraded the stock from Sector Perform to Outperform, price target raised from $9 to $11.
Central European Media Enterprises (Nasdaq: CETV) 12.3% HIGHER; seeing some relief today as the coordinated action on dollar swaps shows Euro regulators may now be willing to do whatever it takes to climb out of the current crisis. The stock had fallen as much as 39 percent since late October.
US Steel (NYSE: X) 11.9% HIGHER; moving higher with the broader metals sector.
Samson Oil (AMEX: SSN) 9.3% LOWER; continuing to push below support at $2 after crossing the technical level late Monday. Shares are down nearly 30 percent this week.
Shutterfly (Nasdaq: SFLY) 9% LOWER; breaking below support at $30 for the first time in more than a year. Volume is extremely heavy this morning.
