Morning Movers 10/16: eBay (EBAY) Lower On Results; Credit Suisse (CS), UBS (UBS) Advance

China TechFaith (NASDAQ: CNTF) 40% HIGHER; raises its Q3 sales guidance from $30-$35 million to about $43 million.

Universal Forest Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI) 20% LOWER; reports Q3 loss of $0.01, may not compare to the analyst estimate of $0.36. Revenues for the quarter were $610.7 million, versus the consensus of $626.39 million. Universal Forest Products does not believe its previous sales and earnings targets for 2008 are achievable.

Credit Suisse Group (NYSE: CS) 12% HIGHER; raised capital.

Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) 10% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $1.38, versus the analyst estimate of $0.87. Revenues for the quarter were $1.91 billion, versus the consensus of $1.68 billion. Raises its FY08 EPS guidance to $3.00-$3.25, versus the consensus of $2.86. FY08 EBITDA raised to $1.75-$1.85 billion.

UBS AG (NYSE: UBS) 8.5% HIGHER; Rescue plan by by Swiss National Bank

WD-40 Company (Nasdaq: WDFC) 7% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.28, which may not compare to the analyst estimate of $0.47. Revenues for the quarter were $76.9 million, versus the consensus of $83.88 million. Sees FY08 EPS of $1.65-$1.85 and Q1 EPS of $0.40-$0.45. The Street is expecting FY08 EPS of $1.83 and Q1 EPS of $0.41.

SunPower Corporation (Nasdaq: SPWRA) 6% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.60, ex-items, versus the consensus of $0.56. Revenues came in at $377.5 million, versus the consensus of $350.4 million. SunPower sees Q4 EPS of $0.73-$0.80, versus the consensus of $0.76. Sees Q4 revs of $405-$435 million, versus the consensus of $415 million. SunPower sees FY08 EPS of $2.34-$2.41, versus the consensus of $2.23. SunPower sees FY09 EPS of a least $3.50, versus the consensus of $3.67.

FalconStor (Nasdaq: FALC) 6% LOWER; sees Q3 EPS of $0.00, versus the analyst estimate of $0.05. Sees revenues for the quarter were $19 million to $19.5 million, versus the consensus of $22.78 million. FalconStor lowers FY08 EPS view to 12 cents to 14 cents from 31 cents to 36 cents, consensus is for EPS of 26c. FalconStor lowers FY08 revenue view from $100 million to $104 million to $85 million to $87 million, consensus is for revenue of $96 million.

eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) 6% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.46, ex-items,5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.41. Revenues for the quarter were $2.12 billion, versus the consensus of $2.13 billion. Sees Q4 EPS of $0.39-$0.41, versus the consensus of $0.47 and sales of $2.02-$2.17 billion, versus $2.42 billion.

Steel Dynamics (Nasdaq: STLD) 5% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.98, versus the analyst estimate of $1.10. Revenues for the quarter were $2.6 billion, versus the consensus of $2.63 billion. Steel Dynamics is withdrawing its previous full-year 2008 earnings guidance of $3.80 to $3.90 per diluted share as market circumstances have changed dramatically

Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) 3% LOWER; Disappointing results from rival eBay

Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) 3% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.70, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.67. Revenues for the quarter were $2.369 billion, versus the consensus of $2.37 billion

Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) 2.5% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.38, 1 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.37. Revenues for the quarter were $483.5 million, versus the consensus of $482.09 million. Sees Q3 revs up 2%, sequentially

Novellus Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVLS) 2% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.01, 3 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.04. Revenues for the quarter were $250.1 million, versus the consensus of $245.56 million.

Citigroup, Inc. (NYSE: C) 1% LOWER; reported a Q3 loss of $0.60 per share, and a $0.71 loss from continuing operations, versus the consensus of $0.70 loss. Citigroup's results included $4.4 billion in net pre-tax write-downs in Securities and Banking, $4.9 billion in net credit losses, and a $3.9 billion net charge to increase loan loss reserves. Citigroup ended the quarter with a Tier 1 ratio of 8.2% and a loan loss reserve of $25 billion

Sherwin-Williams Co. (NYSE: SHW) INDICATED HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $1.50, versus the consensus of $1.27. Revenues came in at $2.27 billion, versus the consensus of $2.19 billion. Sees Q4 EPS of $0.40-$0.60, versus the consensus of $0.55. Raises FY EPS to a range from $3.97-$4.17, versus the consensus of $4.01.
