Pluristem Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: PSTI) 25.1% HIGHER; reports that the life of a patient suffering from bone marrow failure in which there was a dangerous reduction in the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets (pancytopenia) has been saved using Placental eXpanded (PLX) cells. This is the second time in the past three months that a patient suffering from bone marrow failure was successfully treated in a compassionate use treatment with PLX cells with a return of bone marrow function.
Standard Motor Products (NYSE: SMP) 23.0% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.59, $0.06 better than the analyst estimate of $0.53. Revenue for the quarter came in at $268.9 million versus the consensus estimate of $260.13 million.
Knight Capital Group, Inc. (NYSE: KCG) 19.8% LOWER; entered $400 million of new financing, though the convertible stock will convert at $1.50 per share and carry a 2 percent coupon.
Changyou.com (NASDAQ: CYOU) 16.2% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $1.35, $0.24 better than the analyst estimate of $1.11. Revenue for the quarter came in at $147.3 million versus the consensus estimate of $142.49 million. Sees Q3 sales of $153 - $157 million, versus consensus of $147.7 million. Nam Tai Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: NTE) 15.1% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.21, versus $0.07 reported last year. Revenue for the quarter came in at $205.15 million, versus $125.99 million reported last year.
MGIC Investment Corp. (NYSE: MTG) 15.3% HIGHER; CFO J. Michael Lauer bought 75,000 shares on August 6th for 89 cents apiece.
Tesco Corp (NASDAQ: TESO) 14.3% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.34, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $0.33.
Vringo, Inc. (AMEX: VRNG) % HIGHER; higher following headlines that AOL, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) has agreed to settle a portion of its patent case with the firm.
Assisted Living Concepts, Inc. (NYSE: ALC) 12.2% LOWER; On August 3, 2012, Assisted Living held a conference call to discuss its financial results for the second quarter of 2012. During the question and answer session of the call, a participant inquired about the Company’s expectation regarding future financial impacts of increased staffing. After further consideration, the Company estimates that the hiring of approximately 800 additional employees will increase operating expenses from the second quarter of 2012 to the third quarter of 2012 by approximately $5 to $6 million.
FreightCar America (NASDAQ: RAIL) 10.5% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.46, $0.11 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.57. Revenue for the quarter came in at $181.2 million versus the consensus estimate of $189.34 million.
The Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. (NYSE: IPG) 9.3% LOWER; IPG rose over 13 percent last Friday, but would not comment on the unusual move.
