Morning Movers 05/14: (GOLF) (VTUS) (KERX) Higher; (IOC) (ACOM) (ANIK) Lower

Golfsmith International Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: GOLF) 28.2% HIGHER; Golf Town and Golfsmith announced today that they have signed a definitive merger agreement, pursuant to which Golf Town will acquire Golfsmith, a leading specialty golf retailer in the United States, for US $6.10 per share in cash.

Ventrus Biosciences Inc. (Nasdaq: VTUS) 19.9% HIGHER; reported positive results from pivotal Phase 3 Trial of Diltiazem (VEN 307) in patients with anal fissures. Click here to see the full report.

Keryx Biopharma (Nasdaq: KERX) 18% HIGHER; shares are continuing higher following a 13 percent rise on Thursday and another 15 percent rise on Friday. The stock is over resistance at $2 this morning.

InterOil Corporation (NYSE: IOC) 16.2% LOWER; announced receipt through an unofficial channel, from the Department of Petroleum and Energy (DPE), of a copy of a notice of intention to cancel the 2009 LNG Project Agreement between Liquid Niugini Gas Limited and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

Ancestry.com Inc. (Nasdaq: ACOM) 16% LOWER; shares are under massive pressure early Monday after NBC decided not to renew the "Who Do You Think You Are?" television series for a fourth season.

Anika Therapeutics (Nasdaq: ANIK) 11% LOWER; traders likely taking some profits today following nearly 60 percent run-up since the beginning of 2012. The stock is below $14 today.

ChipMOS (Nasdaq: IMOS) 10.8% HIGHER; trading higher today as a Barron's piece from over the weekend suggested the company could rise about 30 percent over the next year.

Platinum Group Metals (AMEX: PLG) 8.7% LOWER; most commodities are down this morning, including gold which is down about 1.5 percent. Prior to today's move lower, Platinum shares are down about 16 percent. The stock is below support at $1.20.

Maxygen, Inc. (Nasdaq: MAXY) 8.3% HIGHER; today announced that it will receive a $30.0 million payment from Bayer HealthCare LLC in connection with Bayer’s continued clinical development of a recombinant factor VIIa product candidate for the treatment of hemophilia.

Globecomm Systems (Nasdaq: GCOM) 7.7% LOWER; has pushed below $11 this morning on very heavy volume.

Tearlab Corp. (NASDAQ: TEAR) 7.3% LOWER; reported Q1 EPS of ($0.44), $0.33 worse than the analyst estimate of ($0.11). Revenue for the quarter came in at $422 thousand versus the consensus estimate of $430 thousand.
