Clinical Data, Inc. (Nasdaq: CLDA) 53.2% HIGHER; announced that their vilazodone HCl tablets, to be marketed under the brand name Viibryd, has been approved by the U.S. FDA.
Novagen (Nasdaq: NVGN) 32.1% HIGHER; continuing higher this week; the stock didn't close in the red last week, rising 74% over the four trading sessions.
Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. (NYSE: SSCC) 28.6% HIGHER; RockTenn (NYSE: RKT) announced on Sunday that it has agreed to acquire the company for $3.5 billion in cash and stock. The packaging manufacturer will buy Smurfit-Stone for $35 per share, representing a 27 percent premium over the closing price of the stock on Friday of $27.52. SSCC also reported Q4 EPS of $0.62, $0.02 better than the analyst estimate of $0.60. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.63 million versus the consensus estimate of $1.67 billion.
Genoptix, Inc. (Nasdaq: GXDX) 25.8% HIGHER; agreed to be acquired by Novartis (NYSE: NVS) for $25.00 per share in cash, or a total equity value of approximately $470 million.
Optical Cable Corp (NASDAQ: OCCF) 22.4% HIGHER; reported Q4 EPS of $0.23, versus $0.01 last year. Revenue for the quarter came in at $18.5 million, versus $14.1 million last year.
Rexahn Pharma (AMEX: RNN) 17.1% HIGHER; traders may be buying the stock today following a bullish article at SeekingAlpha over the weekend.
Casella Waste Systems (Nasdaq: CWST) 16.9% HIGHER; reached a deal to sell select non-integrated recycling assets to a new company formed by Pegasus Capital Advisors, L.P. and Intersection, LLC for $130.4 million in gross proceeds. Casella Waste also commenced a cash tender offer and consent solicitation for any and all of the 9.75% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2013 of the Company. In addition, Casella Waste said it itends to offer $200 million aggregate principal amount of senior subordinated notes due 2019.
Silicom Ltd. (NASDAQ: SILC) 14.1% HIGHER; reported Q4 EPS of $0.28, $0.03 better than the analyst estimate of $0.25. Revenue for the quarter came in at $9.9 million versus the consensus estimate of $8.5 million.
Pluristem (Nasdaq: PSTI) 12.3% HIGHER; the stock continues to be extremely volatile; shares have pushed back over the $3 level following a 19% surge on Tuesday of last week's session, following by a 10 and 12% decline on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Shares closed last week's trading with a nearly 9% rise.
RadioShack (NYSE: RSH) 11% LOWER; says Julian Day to retire from his Chairman and CEO positions. The company will now separate its Chairman and CEO roles. James Gooch, currently CFO, will become RadioShack's President immediately and CEO upon Day's retirement. Daniel Feehan will become RadioShack's Chairman. Issues preliminary Q4 numbers: EPS of 50-54c on sales of $1.37 billion. The Street is currently looking for Q4 EPS of 67c on sales of $1.36 billion.
