Mattel (MAT) Only Awarded $100 Million in Damages Over Bratz Lawsuit
CNBC issues a statement updating an earlier report from Reuters regarding a California jury reaching a verdict for damages in a copyright infringement trial brought by Mattel Inc (NYSE: MAT) against MGA Entertainment Inc over control of the Bratz doll franchise.
Reuters reports the jury awarded Mattel $100 million in damages in a copyright infringement case. Mattel had asked the panel to award it about $2 billion plus punitive damages.[SM]
