NexMed, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEXM) 64.1% LOWER; announced the mutual decision with Novartis (NYSE: NVS) to terminate the licensing agreement for NM100060, a topically-applied treatment for onychomycosis, commonly known as nail fungus. NexMed entered into the exclusive, worldwide agreement with Novartis in September 2005, under which Novartis assumed all clinical development, regulatory, manufacturing and commercialization responsibilities for NM100060. Amgen (Nasdaq: AMGN) 13.6% HIGHER; announced that a pivotal, Phase 3, head-to-head trial evaluating denosumab versus Zometa(R) (zoledronic acid) in the treatment of bone metastases in 2,049 patients with advanced breast cancer met its primary and secondary endpoints and demonstrated superior efficacy compared to Zometa. Superiority was demonstrated for both delaying the time to the first on-study Skeletal Related Events (SREs)(fracture, radiation to bone, surgery to bone, or spinal cord compression) (hazard ratio 0.82, 95 percent CI: 0.71, 0.95), and delaying the time to the first-and-subsequent SREs (hazard ratio 0.77, 95 percent CI: 0.66, 0.89). Ruby Tuesday, Inc. (NYSE: RT) 12.9% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.28, 9 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.19. Revenue for the quarter was $317.3 million, versus the consensus of $303.95 million. Same store sales fell 3.2% during the quarter. Sees FY10 EPS of $0.50-$0.65, versus the consensus of $0.55. Same store sales are expected to be down 2.5-3.5%.
XenoPort, Inc. (Nasdaq: XNPT) 9% LOWER; announced today that it is offering to sell, subject to market and other conditions, 2,500,000 shares of its common stock pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement in an underwritten public offering. XenoPort also intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an aggregate of 375,000 additional shares of common stock to cover over-allotments, if any. All of the shares in the offering are to be sold by XenoPort. Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated and Goldman, Sachs & Co. are acting as joint book-runners for the offering.
Websense (Nasdaq: WBSN) 6% LOWER; sees Q2 non-GAAP sales of $83.9-$84.2 million, versus the consensus of $84.57 million and compared to $88.2 million in Q208. Sees Q2 non-GAAP EPS of $0.30-$0.32, compared to the analyst estimate of $0.30 and $0.37 in the same quarter last year.
