After-Hours Movers 6/28: DARA, SPIR, SMSC, RMBS, ZEP Higher; EMKR, MU Lower

DARA BioSciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: DARA) 10.2% HIGHER; announced today that SurgiVision, Inc., a privately held company of which DARA owns 1,613,258 shares and warrants to purchase an additional 405,000 shares, has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA to market their ClearPoint system in the United States for general neurological interventional procedures.

Spire Corporation (Nasdaq: SPIR) 6% HIGHER; today announced it has been selected by the Department of Energy as the recipient of a Small Business Innovation Research grant to develop a light emitting diode based solar simulator.

EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ: EMKR) 5.9% LOWER; announced that on June 24, 2010, EMCORE and TCIC withdrew their joint filing with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. The withdrawal was made jointly in response to an indication from CFIUS that it has certain regulatory concerns about the transaction as it is currently proposed. EMCORE and TCIC had previously made a joint voluntary filing with CFIUS in connection with their proposed transaction, whereby the Company would sell a sixty percent (60%) interest in its Fiber Optics business (excluding its satellite communications and specialty photonics fiber optics businesses) to TCIC in exchange for $27.75 million in cash, subject to certain adjustments.

SMSC (Nasdaq: SMSC) 5.8% HIGHER; reports Q1 adjusted smscEPS of $0.33, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.27. Revenue for the quarter was $97.2 million, which compares to the estimate of $86.50 million. Sees Q2 sales of $101 - $104 million, compared to the consensus of $95.3 million.

Micron (NYSE: MU) 5.7% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.92, versus ($0.37) reported for the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter was $2.29 billion, which compares to the estimate of $2.10 billion.

Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq: RMBS) 4.7% HIGHER; LED lighting solutions are taking center stage as interest and demand grow for energy-efficient lighting innovations and as governments around the world enact strict energy standards. To accelerate LED product development, GE Lighting, a unit of the General Electric Company’s (NYSE: GE) Appliances & Lighting business, and Rambus, have signed a broad licensing agreement for the use of Rambus’ patented lighting innovations, including its product reference designs and manufacturing process know-how. The initial focus will be to create a flat-panel LED lighting system for architectural and commercial lighting for global markets.

Zep, Inc. (NYSE: ZEP) 1% HIGHER; reports Q3 adj-EPS of $0.30, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.26. Revenue for the quarter was $153 million, which compares to the estimate of $153.10 million.
