After-Hours Movers 5/15: Noah Education (NED) Up on Results/Guidance; KongZhong (KONG) Lower on Results

Noah Education Holdings, Ltd. (NYSE: NED) 17% HIGHER; reports Q3 revenues rose 8.5% to US$26.3 million and EPS of $0.20, veruss $0.05 last year. Noah expects its total net revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2008 (April 1, 2008 to June 30, 2008) to grow in the range of 16% to 18%, compared to the corresponding period last year. Noah expects net income growth in the fourth fiscal quarter 2008 in the range of 350% to 400%, as compared to the corresponding period last year. In addition, The Company has raised it forecast for total net profit for full fiscal year 2008 to be in the range of RMB128 million to RMB130 million. This forecast reflects Noah's current and preliminary view, which is subject to change.
Hoku Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOKU) 15% HIGHER; announcing the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission has approved a contract for Hawaiian Electric Company to purchase power from a photovoltaic (PV) power system that Hoku Solar, Inc., will install on the roof of Archer Substation at Hawaiian Electric's Ward Avenue facility.
KongZhong Corporation (NASDAQ: KONG) 12% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.03, 2 cents worse than estimates. Revenues were $21.39 million vs. $21.28 million consensus.
Spreadtrum Communications (Nasdaq: SPRD) 10% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.06, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.06. Revenues for the quarter were $39.5 million, versus the consensus of $39.39 million.
UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI) 6.3% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.21, versus the analyst estimate of ($0.10) and compared to a $0.45 loss in the same quarter last year. Revenues for the quarter were $586 million, versus the consensus of $549.55 million. Sees Q2 revs in the range of $580-$610 million, versus the consensus of $593.85 million. This level of revenues would represent growth of 8-13% compared to the same period last year.
Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: AMLN) 6% HIGHER; Carl Icahn's Icahn Capital latest 13F shows he built a stake in Amylin Pharmaceuticals. Icahn showed a new 6,339,653 share stake in AMLN.
Mentor (NYSE: MNT) 5.6% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.30, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.30. Revenues for the quarter were $99.4 million, versus the consensus of $93.75 million.
Giant Interactive Group Inc. (NYSE: GA) 5% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.20, 4 cents better than estimates. Revenues were US$67.3 million vs. $63.13 million consensus. Second Quarter 2008 Guidance -- Based on the current outlook, Giant expects to generate total net revenues for the second quarter in the range of RMB495 million to RMB505 million (approx US$70 million). (Consensus is $67.53 million)
BMC Software (NYSE: BMC) 4.3% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.63 ex-items, 12 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.51. Revenues for the quarter were $467 million, versus the consensus of $460.27 million. Sees FY09 EPS $2.10-$2.20 versus $2.09 consensus.
Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN) 2.7% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.54, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.49. Revenues for the quarter were $1.88 billion, versus the consensus of $1.90 billion. Sees FY08 EPS of $2.65-$2.80, versus prior guidance of $2.75-$2.90, versus the consensus of $2.76.
Starbucks Corp. (Nasdaq: SBUX) 2.7% HIGHER; Nelson Peltz Trian Partners latest 13F show the group has a new stake in Starbucks
Kohl's Corp. (NYSE: KSS) 2% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.49, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.44. Revenues for the quarter were $3.6 billion, versus the consensus of $3.63 billion. Sees Q2 EPS of $0.70-$0.74, versus the consensus of $0.72. Sees FY08 EPS of $2.95-$3.15, versus the consensus of $3.11.
