Greenbrier Companies (NYSE: GBX) 23% HIGHER; reports Q2 loss of $0.41, including items, so does not compare to the analyst estimate of ($0.05). Revenue for the quarter was $287 million, versus the consensus of $248.24 million.
Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd. (NYSE: EXM) 19% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $1.71, ex-items, versus the analyst estimate of $1.04. Revenue for the quarter was $189.2 million, versus the consensus of $123.53 million.
Charlotte Russe Holding, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHIC) 15.2% HIGHER; reports preliminary Q2 sales rose 3.3% to $191.2 million. The Street was expecting sales of $185.26 million. Same store sales for the quarter fell 8%. Sees Q2 non-GAAP EPS of $0.02-$0.051, which compares to the Street estimate of ($0.19). Sees Q3 comps to be in the negative low-single digit to positive low-single digit range.
WD-40 Company (Nasdaq: WDFC) 8.2% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.25, 2 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.27. Revenue for the quarter was $61.8 million, versus the consensus of $71.35 million. Sees FY09 sales of $279-$292 million, versus the consensus of $311.77 million. Lowers its FY09 EPS guidance from $1.60-$1.75 to $1.35-$1.55, versus the Street estimate of $1.63.
Shaw Group, Inc. (NYSE: SGR) 8.1% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.22, compared to $0.38 reported in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $1.7 billion, versus the consensus of $1.75 billion. Sees FY09 sales of $7.1-$7.3 billion, versus the consensus of $7.28 billion. EPS for the year are expected to be in the range of $2.10-$2.30, versus the Street estimate of $2.70.
California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPKI) 8% HIGHER; reports preliminary Q1 sales of $161.1 million, down 2.2% from Q108. Same store sales fell 5.9%, compared to a 0.4% increase in the same quarter last year. Raises its Q1 EPS guidance from $0.03-$0.05 to $0.09-$0.10, versus the consensus of $0.05.

Equity One, Inc. (NYSE: EQY) 5% LOWER; plans to sell 4,000,000 shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering. The company also plans to grant the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 600,000 shares of common stock to cover over-allotments, if any.
DryShips (Nasdaq: DRYS) 4% HIGHER; moving higher on better-than-expected earnings out of Excel Maritime.

SMSC (Nasdaq: SMSC) 2.9% HIGHER; reports Q4 loss of $0.54, ex-items, versus the analyst estimate of ($0.44). Revenue for the quarter was $51.2 million, versus the consensus of $47.15 million. Sees Q1 revs of $55-$58 million, versus the consensus of $53.3 million and a loss of $0.20-$0.28, versus the consensus for a loss of $0.27.
Hot Topic, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOTT) 2.6% HIGHER; reports total March sales of $70.5 million, up 10.6% from the same period last year. Same store sales rose 7.1% during the month.
Amtech Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASYS) 2.4% LOWER; reports preliminary Q2 sales of $10.5 million. Also commented on its '09 outlook. PAA) 2.3% HIGHER; today announced a cash distribution of $0.905 per unit on all of its outstanding limited partner units. The distribution will be payable on May 15, 2009, to holders of record of such units at the close of business on May 5, 2009. Zumiez Inc. (NASDAQ: ZUMZ) 1.8% LOWER; announced that total net sales for the five-week period ended April 4, 2009 decreased 5.4% to $29.8 million, compared to $31.5 million for the five-week period ended April 5, 2008. Zumiez comparable store sales decreased 17.9% for the five-week period, versus a comparable store sales decrease of 3.0% in the year ago period.
