Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT) 9% LOWER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.28, $0.09 better than the analyst estimate of $0.19. Revenue for the quarter came in at $290 million versus the consensus estimate of $289.62 million. Sees Q4 adj-EPS of 26-27c, vs. the consensus of 26c. Sees sales of $289-$292 million, vs. the consensus of $292.5 million. Raises its FY12 adj-EPS guidance from $1.03-$1.05 to $1.07-$1.08, vs. the Street estimate of $1.05.

Sprint (NYSE: S) 5.3% HIGHER; AT&T (NYSE: T) dropped its bid for T-Mobile USA. Will record a $4 billion pre-tax charge during the fourth quarter related to a break-up fee with Deutsche Telekom.

American Tower (NYSE: AMT) 1.9% HIGHER; trading higher amid the AT&T/T-Mobile USA news.

Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) 1% HIGHER; today said it expects to meet or exceed the higher end of its prior 2011 earnings-per-share guidance range of $4 to $4.30, excluding a second-quarter $1.14 per-share gain from the company's South American utility acquisitions. The Street is forecasting EPS of $4.21 for the full year.
