Mela Sciences (Nasdaq: MELA) 35% HIGHER; WSJ is saying the company's skin cancer diagnostic device has gained EU approval.

NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) 6.7% HIGHER; sees FY13 sales of $4.7-$5 billion, which compares to the Street estimate of $4.45 billion. Non-GAAP gross margin for the year is expected to be in the 51-53 percent range.

Darden (NYSE: DRI) 4% LOWER; reaffirms guidance: sees Q1 EPS of about 78 cents, vs. the consensus of 87 cents. Q1 earnings will be hurt by about 2 cents per share due to Hurricane Irene. Sees quarterly same-store sales up 2.8 percent. Sees FY12 EPS from continuing operations towards the lower end of its previously issued range. Sees same-store sales up about 3 percent. Sees sales growth of about 6.5-7.6 percent. The company sees buying back $450-$500 million in common stock, up from a prior target of $350-$400 million.

Pep Boys-Manny Moe & Jack (NYSE: PBY) 3.3% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.26, $0.07 better than the analyst estimate of $0.19. Revenue for the quarter came in at $522.6 million versus the consensus estimate of $526.78 million.

Forest Oil Corporation (NYSE: FST) 3.2% HIGHER; today announced that its Board of Directors declared a special stock dividend to its shareholders of 70,000,000 shares of common stock of Lone Pine Resources Inc. (NYSE: LPR) owned by Forest, representing approximately 82% of the outstanding shares of Lone Pine common stock. The distribution by Forest of the special stock dividend will be made on September 30, 2011 (the Distribution Date) to all Forest shareholders of record on September 16, 2011 (the Record Date). Forest holders will receive 0.612 of a share of Lone Pine common stock.

Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) 3% LOWER; today announced updated third quarter 2011 sales guidance. The company currently expects third quarter sales to be in the range of down 3 percent to up 1 percent versus second quarter sales. Previous guidance was for sales growth of 2 percent to 6 percent.

National Retail Properties, Inc. (NYSE: NNN) 2.9% LOWER; today announced that it has commenced an underwritten public offering of 8,000,000 shares of common stock. As part of the offering, the Company also expects to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 1,200,000 additional shares of common stock. Has increased 2011 FFO guidance of $1.52 to $1.55 per share before any impairment expense and estimated AFFO to be $1.65 to $1.68 per share. The Street currently sees $1.52 per share. This FFO guidance equates to net earnings before any gains or losses from the sale of real estate of $0.93 to $0.96 per share plus $0.59 per share of real estate related depreciation and amortization.

VeriFone Systems (NYSE: PAY) 2.4% HIGHER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.49, $0.03 better than the analyst estimate of $0.46. Revenue for the quarter came in at $317 million versus the consensus estimate of $299.47 million. Sees Q4 sales of $395-$400 million, which compares to the Street estimate of $395.9 million. Sees adj-EPS of 49-50 cents, vs. the consensus of 49 cents.

Williams (NYSE: WMB) 1.3% HIGHER; announced today it plans to increase the annual dividend on its common stock by 25 percent, to $1.00 per share. The company also released a new dividend policy that supports continued 10 to 15 percent annual dividend growth. The new $0.25 quarterly dividend is expected to be paid in December of 2011.

Francesca's Holdings (Nasdaq: FRAN) 1% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.15, versus $0.14 reported last year. Revenue for the quarter came in at $51.2 million, versus $34.8 million reported last year. Sees Q3 2011 EPS of $0.11-$0.13. Francesca's Holdings sees Q3 2011 revenue of $49-$52 million. Sees FY2011 EPS of $0.51-$0.54. Francesca's Holdings sees FY2011 revenue of $198-$201 million.
