Mallinckrodt (NYSE: MNK) is under pressure for the second straight session as Citron Research highlighted its ongoing short call on the stock following its successful Valeant Pharma (NYSE: VRX) short, which was utterly destroyed yesterday on a weak outlook and overhang from a potential debt default.
In a CNBC interview with Citron's Andrew Left after the close Tuesday, the short seller said Mallinckrodt makes Valeant look like "choir boys." In an interesting twist, Mallinckrodt's CEO called into the show to defend the company. He said the company is nothing like Valeant.
Shares of MNK are down 9% early Wednesday after selling-off 14.5% on Tuesday.
