Verizon (VZ) Bucks Today's Downside On Hope iPhone Could Come in 2010

October 28, 2009 3:42 PM EDT

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) is bucking the downside trend today, as investors place bets the telecom giant could get the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone in 2010.

As noted earlier on StreetInsider.com, Broadpoint.AmTech analyst Brian Marshall believes the iPhone could be added to the Verizon (NYSE: VZ) network in the 2nd-half of 2010, versus its current exclusive deal with AT&T.

If the iPhone is sold by Verizon, Marshall estimates the company could sell approx. 14 million iPhone units in 2011.

Shares of Verizon are up 3% today, while the broader market is down 1.2%.
