According to AllThingsD's Kara Swisher, Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) paid "big, big bucks" to hire former Google exec Marissa Mayer. Swisher cited a source on the Yahoo! Board of Directors.
Apparently Mayer's compensation was a "hotly debated" issue prior to a decision. Some Board members questioned whether Mayer will turn out to be worth the large sum.
