Protalix Biotherapeutics (PLX) Up On Takeover Speculation
According to reports from Globes Online, the Protalix Biotherapeutics (AMEX: PLX) CEO commented on recent rumors that Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA) would acquire the company, saying that they would not sell unless they receive an exceptional offer that it cannot refuse. The CEO said there are no such offers on the table at this time.
CEO David Aviezer said while a sale may not happen, they company is seeking a strategic partner to market its Gaucher's drug and Teva is a reasonable candidate.
Teva has no investment in Protalix but relations are very good because they share the same chairman - Eli Hurvitz - and have two joint projects.
Shares of PLX are up 12% today $9.48.
