Washington, D.C. - November 9, 2009 -- On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, Microsoft, and the NHL's Washington Capitals, through the USO of Metropolitan Washington, will host more than 50 Wounded Warriors and their families to see the Caps take on the New York Islanders at Verizon Center. The Wounded Warriors will also be treated to a pre-game reception, where they will be honored and recognized for their service and courage.
At the game, the Washington Capitals will also begin selling Courage Caps, which will be available through December. Courage Caps, presented by Microsoft, will raise funds to benefit the USO of Metropolitan Washington, a private, non-profit organization. Courage Caps and Courage T-Shirts will be available online at WashingtonCaps.com, at the pro shop at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and at the Fan Gear store and stands throughout Verizon Center on game days.

BACKGROUND:
This year, A Salute to Our Troops will take place in the Washington, DC market and will include multiple activities to brighten the holiday season for U.S. troops and their families. On Monday, November 9th Microsoft kicked-off the program with an Operation USO Care Package Day with the NHL's Washington Capitals, WTOP 103.5 FM and Federal News Radio 1500AM and the USO of Metropolitan Washington. The program will conclude on Sunday, December 20th, when Microsoft will treat 8,200 troops and their families to a private showing of the traveling Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular at DC's Verizon Center.
