Google, Inc. (GOOG) May Announce Android TV Platform at I/O Conference (AAPL) (AMZN)

Google, Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) may announce Android TV platform at I/O Conference, according to GigOM headlines.

Google's I/O Conference will take place on June 25th - 26th this year.

On watch today include Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN). Apple has its Apple TV set-top box while Amazon has Fire TV, which was just released.

Google's move would come after it recently announced Android Wear, which is geared at making a more-robust smartwatch experience. The company might use a similar platform to unify STB units from different manufacturers. Google has been working on something called Pano, which places content into individual "cards" that users can browse through and select.

GigOM today said Google has been in discussion with a number of of content providers and streaming services over the last few months, including names like Hulu and Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX). The company might also announce several hardware partners at the event.

Shares of Google are down 0.5 percent.
