Blackstone Finds Allscripts (MDRX) Valuation Tough Pill to Swallow

November 30, 2012 2:26 PM EST
Shares of health care technology company Allscripts Health Solutions (Nasdaq: MDRX) tanked on reports that it and potential suitor Blackstone Group (NYSE: BE) were "far apart on valuation and a deal is highly uncertain".

The report was put out by Reuters Friday afternoon and cites people familiar with the matter.

Blackstone isn't the only private equity firm that has shown interest in Allscripts, with Carlyle Group LP (Nasdaq: CG) and TPG Capital LP also in the running. But Blackstone was seen as the front runner for a deal, and it is unknown how doubts about valuation will affect the thinking of other potentials.
