Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) has been in the news lately regarding the possibility the company will introduce it's own smartphone. Reports are the company is working with Foxconn on a new device. Currently, the company has the Kindle e-reader, and new developments and apps are being introduced daily to help enable customer trends.

The new report on the street is that Amazon may be opening up stores/distribution centers near you. Because a bill in congress may change the way shopping online is handled, by taxing the purchaser, Amazon may begin to lose some luster. Why purchase an item online, pay tax on it and then wait for it to arrive, when you can get the item immediately at your local retailer. Amazon's possible solution: Opening up distribution centers in large metropolitan areas in order to speed up the delivery of your purchase...with the goal being same day. The idea (which has been tried before and failed) would be to get your item to you that day or next day at the latest. Because Amazon has $5.72 billion in total cash, the company has the ability to develop this process and keep consumers shopping and happy.
