Wal-Mart (WMT) Sept. Same Store Sales Up 2.4% Ex-Fuel; Affirms Q3 Guidance

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) reports sales for September came in at $36.229 billion. Same store sales for the quarter were up 2.4% without fuel and up 2.8% with fuel.

Sees US same store sales for October up 1-2%. Confirms its previously issued Q3 EPS guidance of $0.73-$0.76, versus the consensus of $0.76.

Walmart's US President and CEO, Eduardo Castro-Wright, said, "In spite of both the impact from the hurricanes and the recent challenges to consumer confidence as a result of the economic environment, Walmart U.S. had another period of solid comparable store sales performance. We continue to believe that the strong Walmart value proposition is bringing more and more customers to our stores. We are confident that the customers will continue to shop with us as we enter the holiday season."
