McDonald's (NYSE: MCD) shares are hanging in negative territory Tuesday following its comparable-store sales numbers for April.
According to a release Tuesday morning, global comps rose 3.3 percent in April. The number is a slowdown from 6.0 percent of comps growth reported in the same period last year.
UPDATE: McDonald's itself was looking for a 4 percent increase in April comps.
Metrics slowed across the board:
As a reminder, McDonald's Annual Shareholders' Meeting will be webcast live on May 24, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
Shares of McDonald's are down 2.3 percent ahead of the bell Tuesday.

- U.S. from 4.0 percent last year to 3.3 percent last April;
- Europe from 6.5 percent down to 3.5 percent; and
- Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa also from 6.5 percent to just 1.1 percent.
