Rite Aid (RAD) Comps Up 0.5% in July; Front-End Up 1.2%, Pharmacy Up 0.2%

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD) today announced sales results for July.
For the four weeks ended July 28, 2012, same store sales increased 0.5 percent over the prior-year period. July front-end same store sales increased 1.2 percent.
Pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 742 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions increased 0.2 percent. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 4.5 percent over the prior-year period.
Total drugstore sales for the four-week period decreased 0.1 percent to $1.881 billion compared to $1.883 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales accounted for 67.5 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 96.4 percent of pharmacy sales.
