LAN Airlines (LFL) Reports September 2008 Traffic Results
LAN Airlines S.A. and its related companies, (NYSE: LFL) reported its preliminary monthly traffic statistics and punctuality indicators for September 2008.
System passenger traffic for September increased 12.3% as capacity rose 11.0%. As a result, the Company's load factor increased 0.9 points to 76.9%. International passenger traffic accounted for approximately 72% of total passenger traffic.
International passenger traffic for September rose 6.3% as capacity increased 4.4%. Accordingly, the international passenger load factor for the month increased 1.4 points to 77.6%. International capacity grew due to an increase in operations to the United States, the South Pacific and on certain regional routes.
Domestic passenger traffic in Chile, Argentina and Peru rose 31.4% as capacity increased 32.1%. As a consequence, the domestic load factor for the month decreased 0.4 points to 75.4%. Growth in domestic capacity was driven mainly by an expansion of operations in Argentina and Peru.
Cargo traffic increased 8.8% as capacity rose 14.5%. As a consequence, the cargo load factor decreased 3.7 points to 70.6%, affected mainly by higher capacity on regional routes.
