Costco Wholesale (COST) Rises as August Comps Outpace Views

Costco Wholesale Corp. (Nasdaq: COST) shares are pushing higher Thursday following an earlier announcement that comparable-store sales rose 6 percent in August, versus consensus views calling for a 4.4 percent gain. Overall, sales increased 8 percent to $7.40 billion in the period.
Comparably, comps rose 7 percent in July, 5 percent in June, and a 10 percent increase in comps for the same period last year.
Last year's August sales also rose 15 percent.
Costco shares are up 0.4 percent in early trading.

Comparably, comps rose 7 percent in July, 5 percent in June, and a 10 percent increase in comps for the same period last year.
Last year's August sales also rose 15 percent.
Costco shares are up 0.4 percent in early trading.
