Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) is trading stronger Thursday morning, following reports it has agreed to sell its corporate call center, Genesys, for as much as $1.5 billion.

The Financial Times (FT) is reporting that private equity firm Permira might be the bidder looking to acquire the unit.

Originally speculated on last month, information about the deal is shoring up. Private equity buyouts have floundered in Europe and globally as capital markets have been tougher to tap...no matter what the firms track record may have been.

Permira's acquisition of the call center may be one of the largest deals in Europe in the second-half of 2011. Announcement of the sale is expected some time this week, or early next week.

Alcatel shares fell last month on reports the deal was stalling.

The move by Alcatel is aimed at returning the firm to profitability, an area its been unfamiliar with since the merger of Alcatel and Lucent in 2006.

Neither of the companies has issued a comment

Alcatel shares are up 4.6 percent pre-market Thursday.
