dick clark productions Teams up With SiriusXM for "2016 American Music Awards(R)"

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/15/16 -- dick clark productions announced today its collaboration with SiriusXM to create exclusive radio programming surrounding the "2016 American Music Awards."

For the first time, the winner of the AMA's coveted "Artist of the Year" award will be given their own, fulltime channel on SiriusXM in 2017, for a limited run. The artist-branded SiriusXM channel, created with and curated by the winning artist, will showcase the artist's musical catalog, including their biggest hits, music from their favorite artists and more, to commemorate the prestigious award.

The Artist of the Year nominees are Adele, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Drake, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd. The ten nominees were narrowed to five based on the votes received through Monday, November 14 at 5:00am PT. The final five nominees are Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Carrie Underwood. Voting for Artist of the Year will close on Thursday, November 17 at 8:59:59pm PT. The winner will be determined by the total votes received throughout the entire voting period.

In advance of the "2016 American Music Awards," SiriusXM Hits 1 channel will go behind-the-scenes at rehearsals, on the Red Carpet, as well as backstage the night of the broadcast, interviewing award nominees and performers for the latest on what fans can anticipate from the awards show. Highlights from the coverage will air on Hits 1's The Morning Mash Up show. Additionally, news and updates about the "2016 American Music Awards" will air on The Highway Morning Show with Storme Warren on SiriusXM's The Highway channel, Sway in the Morning on Eminem's SiriusXM channel Shade 45, as well as on SiriusXM's new music talk channel VOLUME.

The nominations for the "2016 American Music Awards" were announced last month, revealing that Drake leads with 13 nominations, while Rihanna received seven and Adele and Justin Bieber received five nominations each. Beyoncé and The Chainsmokers each received four nominations. Additionally, Bryson Tiller, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood, Fetty Wap and The Weeknd earned three nominations each.

At the American Music Awards, artists will be honored in multiple musical genres. Pop/Rock, Alternative Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Adult Contemporary, Contemporary Inspirational, Latin, EDM and Soundtrack, are some of the genres alongside the awards for Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile and Collaboration of the Year. This year, new categories include Tour of the Year and Video of the Year, while Favorite Song categories in the genres of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop and Soul/R&B have been added in lieu of the Song of the Year category.
