Zephyr Agent Ken Eggers Riding AIDS/LifeCycle as Member of Press Team

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/04/15 -- Ken Eggers, long-time Zephyr agent, has been selected by AIDS/LifeCycle to be a part of the press team in this year's ride, which takes place May 31 through June 6. Hundreds of requests are made each year, and Eggers' story captured the attention of the selection committee.

The annual 545-mile bicycle excursion, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, raises money for AIDS research, prevention and education. This is Eggers second ride for the cause, but this year, a new dynamic has been added. What started out as the youngest of Ken's three sisters riding with him quickly turned in to a family reunion on wheels. After Ken and his sister committed to the ride, the two-person team grew to six. The very next day Ken's middle sister, along with her deaf wife, signed up. The day after that his father, who is turning 80 in May, jumped in as well as his oldest sister.

With the spread of HIV still on the rise, Eggers family felt the decision to ride was an easy one. Many people cannot afford the treatment needed to survive and thrive while living with HIV. "It is an honor to ride in support of so many people that need an assist, and we all feel lucky to be able to do so," commented Eggers.

The San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the beneficiaries and producers of AIDS/LifeCycle, are at the forefront of efforts to reduce new HIV infections and are dedicated to ensuring access to proper medical care for anyone who needs it. Both organizations deliver essential community programs and services for HIV prevention, testing, care, and education.
