Sierra Madre, CA (PRWEB) July 27, 2015

Interactive health education is a highly undervalued aspect of healthcare today, especially in wound center management. Earlier this year Wound Care Advantage beta launched Luvo University, an online learning management system for wound care education and training for WCA wound centers. Customized learning paths allow for clinicians, physicians, hyperbaric technicians and non-clinical staff to get the wound care education they need, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The platform currently has more than 200 users from WCA wound centers all across the country.

"Our course catalog contains more than 120 courses spanning multiple areas of wound care management and clinical care," said Melissa Bailey, VP of Education and Training. "Our sales reps continue to give great feedback from hospitals nationwide on the excitement surrounding this system."

Luvo University is part of the Chalkboard module of Luvo. In addition, it offers more than 100 articles in its resource library, multiple courses for nursing contact hours, medical lectures for physician-to-physician training, video-based competency preparation and more.

"Wound Care Advantage has always been in the education business," Bailey said. "Since we opened our doors in 2002, hands on, interactive education became the foundation to help the employees of our wound centers treat patients better. Luvo University improves the learning process making it fun and rewarding."

Approximately 6.5 million Americans currently suffer from non-healing wounds. Advanced wounds are often made worse by poor circulation, infection, diabetes, obesity and injuries. Without proper care these wounds can become infected, result in amputation or result in life-threatening conditions. Wound healing increases patient quality of life and works toward limb preservation in patients both with and without diabetes.

Wound Care Advantage has also been focused on growing other key areas of its education and training operations including in-person training events and quarterly program director training events.

"We recently completed our first 40-Hour "Introduction to Hyperbaric Medicine" course with 20 attendees from our wound centers around the country," said Bailey. "We spent four intense days in Anaheim, CA under the instruction of Dr. Gregory Bohn to give a stellar course for our clients. For non-clinical training, our quarterly program director events allow us to physically stay connected with our wound center leaders."

Transitioning wound care management providers can be a complex undertaking. WCA provides transition specialists to guide hospital executives through the entire process, making it as smooth as possible.
