William R. Tovey to Join Point72 Asset Management as Chief Executive Officer for Europe

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Point72 Asset Management (Point72) has named William R. Tovey to serve as the Head of the Firm’s London office, Firm President Doug Haynes said today.

“We believe the European equities market offers great opportunities and Will is singularly positioned to help us realize these. He has spent more than two decades as an investor and manager in Europe and we look forward to his leadership as we build out our London office.”

In this newly created role, Mr. Tovey will be part of the team determining Point72’s strategy throughout the region and recruit additional investment professionals to Point72’s European office as it expands.

Mr. Tovey joins Point72 from Barclays, where he helped build a European cash equities business from scratch. He most recently served as the head of its European equities distribution business. He has a wide breadth of relationships in the asset management business and experience working with regulators.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Hovey was a UBS managing director and the head of its European cash equity sales unit in London. Mr. Hovey began his career as an equity analyst and fund manager for Mercury Asset Management.

Mr. Tovey earned a BS in Economics with Honors from the University of Warwick in 1995.
