Wendy's Helps the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Give the Gift of Family through Ninth Annual Father's Day Frosty Weekend and New #Share4Adoption Campaign

June 18, 2015 8:30 AM EDT

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Every child deserves a childhood, and Wendy's® is working to give them one. Through its ninth annual Father's Day Frosty® Weekend, Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, and the new #Share4Adoption initiative, Wendy's and its customers will help children in foster care find forever homes.

Funds raised through Wendy's campaigns like these go to support the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®, which works to help find permanent, loving families for the more than 130,000 children in North America waiting in foster care to be adopted.

"As an adopted child, our founder Dave Thomas knew first-hand the importance of family. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption was born from Dave's firmly held belief that children in foster care 'aren't someone else's responsibility, they are our responsibility'," said Liliana Esposito, Wendy's Chief Communications Officer and trustee of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. "Today, Wendy's remains committed to that belief and mission, and invites customers to get involved through programs like Father's Day Frosty Weekend and our new #Share4Adoption initiative."

Father's Day Frosty Weekend  Participating Wendy's restaurants will celebrate Father's Day Weekend, Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, with the Father's Day Frosty Weekend program. Fifty cents from the sale of each Frosty over the weekend will be donated to Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to help find families for the children waiting in foster care.

#Share4Adoption  Through August, customers will be served drinks in specially designed cups featuring half of a heart. Customers are asked to complete the heart on the cup with their hand, snap a picture and post it to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #Share4Adoption to support awareness of children in foster care.

"We are grateful for Wendy's ongoing and vital support," said Rita Soronen, president and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. "Over the past eight years, Wendy's Father's Day Frosty Weekend alone has raised $11 million in support of our work. Wendy's commitment to helping children in foster care find their forever families through initiatives like these will ensure that we are able to give more children the childhood they deserve."
