Watsonville Country Villa Nursing Home Settlement
WATSONVILLE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/22/15 -- The incidents described in today's DOJ press release occurred prior to current management assuming operational control of the facilities in April 2014. The facility referenced in the release was managed and controlled by Country Villa Service Corp (dba Country Villa Health Services), whose management contract was subsequently terminated by the current ownership team.
The Watsonville Country Villa Nursing Home lawsuit was settled with no admission of wrongdoing by affected companies. Settlement was reached to provide operational certainty, and resulted from a legal case that was adjudicated prior to current management assuming operational control. The settlement ensures that the company will not be sued for the same exact issues, during the same time frame, in the future. Current management made a decision to settle in order to eliminate the last vestiges of the former management structure.
Current owners, management and staff are committed to meet or exceed state and federal government standards for delivering high quality health care -- provided by highly trained professionals -- to our residents and families in this, and all of our facilities.
Publicly available information demonstrates that since acquiring the Country Villa nursing home assets in Watsonville, current management's track record of facility, staffing and patient quality of care improvements are consistent with meeting or exceeding requirements included in today's agreement in which we've formalized our ongoing commitment to, among other things, meeting or exceeding:
- Federal health care program requirements
- Professionally recognized standards of patient care
- Appropriate staffing levels for health care professionals, management, and patient care givers.
