WCPE FM Cinema Classics Weekend

March 6, 2015 7:00 PM EST

Wake Forest, N.C. (PRWEB) March 06, 2015

WCPE Music Director William Woltz announces a weekend-long extravaganza celebrating Great Classical Music in the cinema, March 13 through 15, 2015. Throughout this festival, WCPE will share music from films ranging from timeless to obscure. There's newer music, written especially for the movies, and old masterpieces that make the movie. On Saturday you may request your favorite cinema classic at http://theclassicalstation.org/features_request.shtml.

"We have so much fun with this every August that we're doing it again," offers Woltz. "Beginning with Concert Hall on Friday, we feature Classical selections that have become identified with feature films (think "The Blue Danube" from 2001: A Space Odyssey) plus music written specifically for the silver screen."

For a stroll down memory lane, hear such notable classical works as:

13 Friday
7:00 p.m. Williams: Music from Jurassic Park
8:00 p.m. Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue
9:00 p.m. Desplat: Selections from The Imitation Game

10:00 a.m. Korngold: Captain Blood Suite
